Google sign-in is used only to create or access an HSK account for membership and download-credit checks—it is not linked to your YouTube account. It uses Google’s official OAuth flow and requests only basic identity information (OpenID, email, and profile). The extension never receives your Google password and does not request access to Gmail, Google Drive, contacts, or YouTube account data.
You are also right that the email/password option is confusing: it currently supports existing accounts but does not clearly provide email registration. We will improve this flow and explain the sign-in requirements more clearly. If you are not comfortable signing in, please do not proceed.
