fantastic extension, though an lil buggy:
-- the checkbox for the compressor being on keeps unchecking itself upon every tab refresh.
-- the stream stats info panel does not save its manually dragged position, keep needing to re-drag that back up after every tab refresh.
-- every now and again the extension tabs will temporarily freeze, then unfreeze, which shows the lil blue dots on the tab icons for something new being there, despite nothing new being there.
-- when the extension updates, all the extension tabs / tab windows are suddenly closed.
-- the raid destination preview video provided by ffz shows as an blank white box where the video preview would be.
-- it struggles to retrieve the titles and categories of some past streams.
-- the speaker icon on the extension tab will sometimes vanish, or not show up to begin with when audio is playing.
-- every now and again an few of the background extension tabs will error out when trying to connect to chat.
-- when scrolling up in the chat while it's moving, almost like an on / off switch, alternating with each new message the scrolling will glitch out, and try to pull the bar back down to the bottom, before releasing the bar upon the next message appearing.

other than those few bugs, it works wonderfully, although i do wish it'd get an branch to function on google chrome, as that latest update, or one of the recent ones, gutted the manifest v2 legacy support from the browser entirely, leaving alotta stuff rather broken or unusable as you'd imagine, which included making the ( alternate player for twitch.tv ) extension unusable.

A very nice update to Alternative Player; and not just an update, but an improvement in pretty much every way.

Location restricted 1440p streams with 1080p video quality limit after ad break doesn't revert back to 1080p, but stays mostly on 480p or other random lower quality options. (manually selecting quality or refreshing browser fixes it until next ad break)

Streams with 1080p as default highest quality works perfectly fine and reverts back to 1080p after ad break.

Overall this is a lighter, snappier and streamlined QoL Twitch player with build in "adblocker", highly recommended if you are a hardcore twitch viewer.

Would it be possible to not have the player switch to high resolution when ads come on, I use audio mode to save bandwidth

Working flawlessly, glad to see the project lives on. I only wish there was a possibility to add some proxy to authorization process to bypass region restrictions (like quality limits). Right now the most convenient way to do it is to turn on VPN/proxy -> open stream -> turn off VPN/proxy, if you don't want to mess with routing rules or don't want to use VPN at all. Anyway, much love, this extension needs way more attention. Thank you.
