TraceBug Privacy Policy
TraceBug is local-first by design. The extension collects no data and transmits nothing.
What TraceBug stores — locally on your device only:
- Bug-report evidence you capture (page events, console output, network request metadata, screenshots, screen recordings) is held in the extension's local storage and in the page's browser storage until you delete it.
- Your settings (theme, redaction rules, recording options).
What TraceBug transmits: nothing. There is no telemetry, no analytics, no account, and no server component. Reports leave your machine only when YOU explicitly export a file or copy content, and only to the destination you choose.
Sensitive values (tokens, passwords, secret-shaped strings) are automatically masked at capture time, and you can define additional redaction rules and blur page elements before recording.
Site access: TraceBug requests access to sites solely so its capture toolbar can survive page navigation and take screenshots. No code runs on any page until you explicitly start a capture from the extension popup.
Links inside TraceBug (documentation, optional feedback forms) open tracebug.dev in a new tab like any ordinary link; using them is optional.
