Latest version
Version 0.4.0
Released Aug 5, 2026 - 86.89 KBWorks with firefox 115.0 and laterYour job search now carries straight through to the full SkillEra tools. From a
job posting you can practice the interview for that exact role, with questions
built from the job description and your resume; see how a screener would rate you
before you apply; or open the full career gap analysis. From the extension popup,
open a job search already filled in with your resume, target roles, salary range
and location. Nothing is sent anywhere until you click, and your resume is never
put in a web address.
New: building a LinkedIn profile from scratch. The optimizer used to assume you
already had a profile worth critiquing - no help at all on a brand-new one, which
is exactly when good wording matters most. Give it your resume and it writes your
headline, About, each role, education and skills. Download the whole profile as a
file or copy it all at once, in the order LinkedIn asks for it.
Fixed: the LinkedIn profile button often did not appear at all. It now works
anywhere on LinkedIn.
Fixed: on a job board search page, the job description we read could be the list
of search results instead of the job you had selected - so an interview practice
or screener check could be set up against the wrong text. We now identify the
posting by the shape of its text, which keeps working when a site changes its
page layout, and if we genuinely cannot read a description we say so instead of
guessing.
Fixed: a job with no salary in the posting is now reported as "Pay not listed"
instead of being judged against your target. A pay range the employer never
published is missing information, not a mismatch, and it no longer counts against
the match score.
Fixed: "Back to result" did nothing when you had opened a growth plan from the
free instant skill check.
Buttons now use drawn icons instead of emoji, so they look the same on every
computer and stay sharp at small sizes.Source code released under All Rights Reserved

Version 0.3.0
Released Jul 21, 2026 - 68.33 KBWorks with firefox 115.0 and laterSkillEra Companion is now TWO focused extensions. This one is the Career Suite:
job-fit analysis, tailored resume & cover letters, LinkedIn optimization, and
application tracking.- The AI Prompt Optimizer (for Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini & Perplexity) has moved to
its own separate extension. Search "SkillEra Companion - Prompt Optimizer" in
this store, or get it at https://skillera.io/products/prompt-optimizer - Refreshed toolbar icon.
- Privacy hardening: your resume is never passed through a URL.
Why the split: the store's Single Purpose policy asks each extension to do one
thing well. Splitting keeps each one lean and requests only the permissions it
needs. Nothing you saved is lost - your resume, history, and tracked applications
stay on your SkillEra account.Source code released under All Rights Reserved
- The AI Prompt Optimizer (for Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini & Perplexity) has moved to
Version 0.2.0
Released Jul 16, 2026 - 78.91 KBWorks with firefox 115.0 and later- AI Prompt Optimizer on Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity. An optional
"Optimize" button appears on the message box; clicking it refines the user's
request into a clearer, more effective prompt. It refines only the instruction
wording and leaves any embedded code or content untouched, and it never answers
the prompt for the user. - Advanced mode for a deeper rewrite (2 tokens instead of 1).
- Persistent style preference and remembered category per site.
- On by default; can be disabled globally or per-site from the popup.
- Persistent interview skill capture. Finishing a re-evaluation or profile
interview now extracts concrete, resume-worthy skills and saves them to the
user's profile, so they count in every future job-fit analysis. A confirmation
("Added N skills") is shown on completion. - Companion Hub review controls. New Skills section (add/remove) and Interview
answers section (view/edit/delete) on skillera.io/companion. - Two-tab popup splitting Professional (job search) and AI Assistant (prompt
optimizer) settings, below the SkillEra login and token balance. - "Update your skills" link on the instant skill-check results — opens your
profile to add a skill flagged as a gap, and the results refresh automatically
when you return (no manual rescan).
- Job/profile features previously shipped server-side (skills highlighter,
multi-account support, job preferences) are now part of the published build. host_permissionsreconciled with the content-script matches so the two lists
agree; added the four AI-chat hosts for the optimizer.- Branding. The on-page Optimize pill and the Analyze-fit / SkillEra launchers
now use the SkillEra blue and the extension's own icon (replacing the earlier
indigo and emoji), for a consistent, professional look.
- Instant skill check missed inflectional variants. The free skill match now
stems words, so "Data Warehouse" ≡ "Data Warehousing", "reports" ≡ "reporting",
"databases" ≡ "database", etc. — while still matching whole tokens only (no
partial-word false positives). Also fixed a skill directly followed by a period
("Warehousing.") failing to match. - Skills could diverge between the extension and your account. Manual skills
now union-merge in both directions on load, so skills added on another device or
in the hub appear everywhere - Optimize button stopped responding after an extension reload. The optimizer
now detects the invalidated context and tears its pill down cleanly instead of
showing a dead button. - In-page "Update your skills" link was blocked in some browsers; it now opens
the profile page reliably via the background worker. - Duplicate application tracking on refresh. Re-visiting or refreshing a job
posting now updates
