About this extension
Letterboxd knows every film you've watched and exactly how you rated it — but it
won't tell you what to watch next. ReelMatch does.
Enter any public Letterboxd username. ReelMatch reads the profile, works out what
you actually respond to, and ranks films you haven't seen against that profile.
WHY EACH PICK, NOT JUST WHAT
Every recommendation comes with specific reasons drawn from your own history —
"Directed by Andrei Tarkovsky, you rated Solaris ★★★★★". Open any film for the full
score breakdown showing each factor that contributed and the films behind it. If it
recommends something odd, you can see exactly why.
BUILT AROUND YOUR RATING CURVE
If you average ★★★, your ★★★★½ means what someone else's ★★★★★ means. Ratings are
normalised against your own average, so it reads relative enthusiasm rather than
generosity.
IT TELLS YOU THE DOWNSIDES TOO
If a film carries something you reliably rate low, it says so instead of hiding it.
ALSO
• A taste profile: your strongest genres, directors, themes, eras and languages
• Filter and re-sort by match, rating, year or obscurity
• "Hidden gems" mode for well-loved films almost nobody has logged
• Films you've watched or watchlisted are excluded automatically
PRIVACY
There is no server. Everything runs in your browser. No analytics, no tracking, no
accounts, and nothing is ever sent to the developer. The extension can only reach
letterboxd.com and themoviedb.org — enforced by a Content Security Policy, not just
promised. Your ratings are never transmitted anywhere.
Requires a free TMDB API key (takes two minutes; the extension walks you through it).
