About this extension
History Forget quietly redacts your browser history the moment a page you don't want remembered is visited — no manual cleanup, no digging through history later.
Set up rules once, and matching pages are erased automatically as you browse:
Everything runs locally — no data collection, no network requests, no account. Rules and settings are stored only in your browser.
Warning: Erasure is immediate and history/cookie/storage deletion cannot be undone — test new rules before enabling them broadly.
Set up rules once, and matching pages are erased automatically as you browse:
- Match by domain, wildcard URL, keyword, or regular expression — check the page's URL, title, and/or visible text.
- Whitelist rules always win, so you can carve out exceptions inside a broader rule without editing it.
- Optionally clear cookies, cache, form data, service workers, local storage and IndexedDB for the matched site too — each toggle set independently, per rule — for a cleaner break than deleting history alone.
- Wipe a domain's entire prior history, not just the current page, in one rule.
- Visual confirmation when a rule fires: an optional page outline, toolbar badge, and tab-title prefix, plus custom CSS if you want it.
- Pause any domain for the current session from the toolbar popup — a quick "not now" without touching your saved rules.
- Test rules safely before relying on them, against a sample URL/title/text, right from the options page.
- Import/export your full rule set as JSON for backup or moving between browsers.
Everything runs locally — no data collection, no network requests, no account. Rules and settings are stored only in your browser.
Warning: Erasure is immediate and history/cookie/storage deletion cannot be undone — test new rules before enabling them broadly.
