Privacy Policy for GeoGuess Street View Capture

GeoGuess Street View Capture is a Firefox extension designed to capture the visible Street View area on map-making.app and add optional location information to the exported PNG image.

1. Information processed by the extension

The extension may process the following information displayed on the current map-making.app page:

• Country
• State, province, or region
• Place name
• Geographic coordinates, including latitude and longitude
• Street View imagery date
• The visible Street View image shown in the current browser tab

This information is processed only to create the screenshot requested by the user.

1. Information transmitted to a third party

When geographic coordinates are available, the extension may send the latitude and longitude to the OpenStreetMap Nominatim reverse-geocoding service.

The coordinates are sent only to determine the corresponding country and state, province, or region.

The extension does not send Street View screenshots, place names, browsing history, account information, or other page content to Nominatim.

OpenStreetMap Nominatim may receive technical request information, such as the user's IP address, as part of the normal operation of an internet request. Such information is handled according to the policies of the Nominatim service.

1. Screenshot processing

Street View screenshots are captured and processed locally inside the user's Firefox browser.

The extension crops the visible Street View area, adds the selected location information, and creates a PNG file locally.

Screenshots are not uploaded to the extension developer or to any external server.

1. Data storage and retention

The extension developer does not operate a server for collecting or storing user data.

The extension does not permanently store:

• Geographic coordinates
• Place information
• Street View screenshots
• Browsing history
• User activity
• Personal account information

The generated PNG file is saved directly to the user's device.

1. Analytics, advertising, and tracking

The extension does not use:

• Analytics services
• Advertising networks
• Tracking technologies
• Tracking cookies
• User profiling
• Sale of personal information
• Data sharing

Geographic coordinates are shared only with OpenStreetMap Nominatim when reverse geocoding is used.

The extension developer does not sell, rent, or otherwise share user information with advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties.

1. Permissions

The extension requests access to map-making.app pages so that it can:

• Display the screenshot control panel
• Read visible location information
• Capture the currently visible browser tab
• Generate and save the requested PNG image

The location information permission is used for reverse geocoding coordinates into a country and state, province, or region.

1. User control

Users can review and manually edit the country, state or province, place name, coordinates, and imagery date before saving the screenshot.

Users who do not agree to the required location data transmission may choose not to install or use the extension.

1. Children's privacy

The extension is not designed to collect personal information from children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

1. Changes to this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated if the extension's functionality or data practices change. Any updated policy will be published with the extension listing.
